Electricity is useful indeed

What a week-end!  All things considered, it was pretty special.  Friday, we had a good group of students over.  They once again heard of their need for a saviour.  We generally just hang with them for a few hours before they have to return to their dorms by 10:00.  The last 15-30 minutes, we read a verse or two from the Scriptures and then talk about it.  I like the analogy of men being added to an army until the army is too powerful to stop.  I hope that we are adding men to an army of reasons for these young men and women to accept Jesus as Saviour and Lord.

IMG_2092[1]Saturday was all day prep for a ladies night.  At a guess, about 40 ladies squeezed into the upstairs room and had a special night.  We had a snow storm come through Saturday and it resulted in our electricity “getting lost” (as a little neighbour girl told me when recounting the adventure).  This meant a lot of prep was done by candlelight and a torch.  And when we lose electricity, we also lose our access to more water than is in our pipes… as well as heat.  However, by the end of the night, we felt as if we had survived admirably and were vocally grateful to the Lord for His mercy.  The ladies were awed by the atmosphere the girls created and us guys had a good time serving and helping out.  And from what I heard, the ladies were blessed by Pris sharing.  As I drove some of the ladies home through the thick snow, (see pic), one of the new ones commented that the evening was special and spiritual.

Then last night, we invited 10 couples to come and celebrate “the love God has given us to share with our spouses”.  Again, for much of the day, we didn’t have electricity, but by evening, it had “got found” and I believe each one of us enjoyed immensely the special time.  IMG_2095[1]

Last night, our family went out into the snowy forest nearby and cooked a bbq. We tend to have at least one winter bbq a year.  By the time we walked in, it was dark and snowing wetly.  It was nice to sit around our fire and enjoy each other and even reminisce a childhood of fires and bbq’s!

I saw Pris and the girls outside a couple of days ago and snapped this pic.  Due to the snow and wind, the darker colours are barely visible if you look out the same window.  Beautiful!
